these are some of the questions proposed to us by our guest speakers on landfills.
No-landfills are huge piles of garbage, the waste leaks down into the grown and into our water. The smells fills the atmosphere with methane gasses which trap the carbon dioxide and make our earth hotter.
In addition to learning the ill effects of landfills I learned that:
Fresh-kills landfill in Staton Island is the largest landfill
Leachate is liquid garbage
and to truly make a difference we have to change the way we think, Right now our economy in terms of production and consumption is Linear. We need to make that Cyclical so that we recycle waste and by-product back into product.
